THX
THX is a sound recording and reproduction standard. Developed in 1983, THX (Tomlinson Holman's eXperiment, named for its creator) was developed in order to ensure that Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi would have accurate audio reproduction in movie theaters. Later applied to home theaters, computer speaker systems, video game consoles, and automobile stereo systems, the THX technology can be applied to all major sound formats including Dolby Digital, Dolby SR, SDDS, and Ultra-Stereo. Certification of an auditorium involves the space meeting specifications of both audio technology and architectural structure.
