Smart folder
A smart folder is the Mac OS X incarnation of a virtual folder. Virtual folders associate files of a particular, user-designated type (project type, file type, etc.). The Smart Folder feature dynamically updates the folder to include new items that match the criteria set by the user. Instead of needing to manually drag and drop new items into the folder, virtual folders and smart folders alike handle the grouping of the files automatically based on the user's description of the types of items that should belong in the collection.
