RCA cable
RCA cable refers to the RCA connector, sometimes referred to as a phono connector, which is the standard connector on most consumer level composite and component video equipment. RCA cables aren't device nor signal specific, and will in fact work with any compatible terminal. RCA cables aren't used as widely in professional video, where BNC connectors are traditionally more popular, because RCA cables are easily unplugged and cannot ensure as solid of a connection as BNC. RCA cables carry one signal per cable, which makes multiple cables necessary in most applications. Component video uses 3 cables to relay video, while stereo audio requires two additional cables. RCA cables are being slowly phased out in favor of HDMI.
