Quad band

Quad band referrs to a device capable on operating on four distinct groups of radio frequencies. Nearly all the time, the use of this term is in regards to a GSM mobile phone capable of working on networks in the 850, 900, 1800, and 1900MHz ranges. The 850 and 1900 bands are typically used in the Americas, and the 900 and 1800 in Europe or Asia. A phone supporting all four bands can be used near-universally on any GSM network.
