Plasma (PDP)
A plasma display panel, or PDP, is a type of display panel most commonly used in large flat-panel displays. This includes hardware such as HDTVs and commercial computer monitors (such as arrival/departure screens at an airport). Displays utilizing plasma technology are often said to have a better contrast ratio than an LCD display of comparable size. However, plasma displays often use more power then their LCD counterparts. Another problem is the chance of image burn-in, where an image is burned into the screen from prolonged exposure. This problem has been nearly eliminated by modern technological developments, but rather than lasting permanetly, temporary "ghosting" can still occur.
