Overscan
Overscan refers to the “signal” that reaches outside of what a viewer normally sees. Usually a product of aspect ratio changes (but present to a small degree in most video), overscan can best be witnessed in a projection movie theater. Walking close to the screen, one can view the part of the film projected over the edges of the screen that seated audience members cannot see. This is the overscan.
