Noise cancelling

Noise cancellation (most popular in headphones) is a form of active noise control which works by generating “antinoise” to counter any ambient sounds that might disrupt whatever it is the user is listening to. Antinoises are sound waves generated by tiny microphones and consist of waves with the same amplitude but opposite polarity of the sounds they’re canceling out. Where there is a trough in ambient noise’s sound waves, there is a peak in the antinoise’s sound waves. When these sound waves combine, they nullify one another in an effect dubbed noise cancellation.
