Netbook
The netbook is a term coined by Intel for a particular kind of sub-notebook that emphasizes power-management, internet access, small size, and a simple operating system. Netbooks often use processors requiring the least amount of power to run effectively, and provide access to core computing functions such as web browsing word processing through programs or cloud computing.
In layman's terms, a netbook is a small laptop designed just for internet access and basic functions you would use at work or school. They have small screens to cut down on their size, efficient CPUs, and only cost around $250 to $400 dollars, which makes them easily marketable towards computer users that just need basic computing on the go, or advanced users looking for a secondary machine to complement their main workhorse. Although the form factor was first introduced by Asus in 2007 with the Asus Eee PC 901, the surprising and overwhelming success of the netbook in the marketplace has led Asus to greatly expand its line and other major manufacturers to release netbooks of their own.
