MID
Short for Mobile Internet Device, the term mid is often used interchangeably with ultra-portable PC (UMPC) as well as historically being applied to netbooks in the early days of that form factor. Handheld devices still referred to as MIDs (or simply lowercase mid) are typically larger than the typical smartphone but smaller than a UMPC, provide wireless internet access, and are generally built around providing multimedia playback and entertainment for the consumer market as opposed to the enterprise.
