Memory Stick

Memory Stick is a proprietary flash memory card format introduced by Sony in October 1998, and is also the name used to describe the whole family of Sony Memory Sticks. After the original Memory Stick, Sony introduced the Memory Stick PRO, a revision that allows greater maximum storage capacity and faster file transfer speeds. The family also includes the Memory Stick Duo, a small-form-factor version of the Memory Stick, the Memory Stick PRO Duo (again providing greater maximum storage and faster file transfer, now inside the smaller Duo form facter), and the even smaller Memory Stick Micro (M2). Sony added the Memory Stick PRO-HG, a high speed variant of the PRO, in December 2006 to be used for high definition still and video cameras.
