Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

iTunes Store (iTMS)

The iTunes Store is a digital content storefront operated by Apple offering music, movies, TV, audiobooks, podcasts and applications for the iPhone and iPod touch for download and/or sale. Originally launched in 2003 as the iTunes Music Store (iTMS), the digital media store is widely crediting for making online music sales a viable business model in an era when the music industry was struggling to come up with a solution to profitable digital distribution.

In late 2005 with the advent of the video-capable iPod, the iTunes Store began to carry video content licensed from partners in the movie and television industries. Currently some TV shows are offered in both standard definition and high definition versions, and movies are available for purchase or rental with some also available in HD.

As of January 2009, Apple reported over 6 billion songs had been sold through the iTunes Store, which passed both Wal-Mart and Best Buy in marketshare to secure the top spot as the largest music seller.
