ISP

An ISP, or Internet Service Provider, is company offering a service that allows customers to connect to the Internet through some form of data transmission technology, such as dial-up, broadband, or satellite. ISPs range in services offered, amount charged, and potential speed, but all offer connectivity to the Internet. Some companies double as ISPs alongside their more mainstream services, such as telephone or television. Comcast, AOL, and AT&T are examples of large, national ISPs in the U.S., but many small local ISPs also exist.
