HTML
HTML stands for hypertext markup language. It's what programmers use to write web pages. Nearly all web pages today have some element of HTML in them, even if they use a dynamic programming language like ASP, PHP, ColdFusion or C#. Many dynamic web languages were developed to use and extend the static elements of HTML. Web pages written in HTML usually end with a file extension of .html or .htm. A PHP or other page can consist of all HTML code, and still have a file extension like .php, so it can be misleading. XHTML is extensible HTML, allowing for the same power of HTML with the flexibility to extend its features. DHTML is dynamic HTML, which is a misnomer since it relies on several other technologies, not just HTML.
