HTIB

HTIBs, or Home Theaters In a Box, are bundles of home entertainment devices, usually including a DVD player, a speaker package with 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 channel surround sound capabilities, and an AV receiver for routing sound and video to the proper devices.  The speaker system generally includes a center-channel speaker, left and right front speakers, two satellite surround sound speakers, and a subwoofer for bass. A TV is often considered a separate device not sold as part of a HTIB, while color coded sound cables are generally part of the HTIB bundle. Consumers prefer an HTIB when they don't want to spend the time and money selecting specific devices tailored to their needs or choosing high-end home theatre components such as Blu-ray players.
