HSUPA

HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access) is a name, created by Nokia, describing the 3G mobile protocol in the HSPA group. Known as Enhanced Uplink by the 3GPP, HSUPA improves the performance of uplinks by implementing an uplink enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH). This E-DCH will be similar to the link adaptation methods integrated into the HSDPA system. By use of a packet scheduler, the protocol grants the user the ability to send data based upon the number of users making such requests. Using HARQ, hybrid ARQ (Automatic Repeat Query), failed transmissions will result in retransmissions with incremental redundancy thus increasing the effectiveness of the data transfer.
