home automation
Home automation is a term than encompasses systems, networks, and devices used to make private homes more efficient and useful by making certain operations automatic or remote. Appliances, lighting, security systems, entertainment systems, and computers may all be a part of a home automation network, connected with WiFi technology, cables, infrared signals, or radio waves. The user of the home automation network can then control specific devices (like lighting) remotely, program specific commands in a sequence (open garage door AND turn on lights), or check the status of appliances around the house through their laptop or cell phone. There are many different types of levels of home automation, from simple media integration to more complex systems that connect electric devices throughout the home.
