GPRS
General Packet Radio Service is a mobile device data standard used on GSM networks, often referred to as a 2.5G service. The access is typically comparable to or slightly faster than dial-up modem speeds, with a maximum rate of 114kbps. While far slower than 3G technologies, GPRS is available in more markets, giving it a place as a fall-back from 3G when not available. EDGE data is an enhanced form of the GPRS protocol.
