Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Gmail Labs

Gmail Labs is a feature of Google's email service that allows users to experiment with ideas that Google employees have coded themselves and uploaded as trial versions of new applications. Google created Gmail Labs as a testing ground for these applications, to see if any have enough potential to be used as official Gmail functions. Labs can be enabled or disabled by Gmail users through the Gmail interface, though there is no guarantee Labs will be effective or bug proof. Gmail Labs features range from simply switching the labels/chat windows from the left side of the screen to the right to setting Gmail for a vacation time that automatically begins and ends the auto-response function. Other Labs are more zany, such as enabling a keyboard shortcut to the traditional snake computer game or turning on a mail goggles application that schedules tests to ensure users don't send emails while inebriated.
