Ghosting
Ghosting is a phenomenon that occurs with LCD displays. The LCD must change one pixel from one color value to the next corresponding color value in moving video, and as a result of response time, the latent image may fade or ghost into the next image displayed. In LCD TVs, computer monitors, and other electronic devices with an LCD display, the effect of ghosting is especially present with fast-paced video games and video. This smearing effect can be reduced by reducing the response time of the display (keeping in mind smaller response times counterintuitively mean faster reponse). Although the shortest response times are still found in CRTs, many manufacturers are dedicating much research and development to amend this problem.
