Folder
Folders, or more specifically, file system directories, are collections of computer files and/or other folders. Folders within other folders are called “subfolders” or “subdirectories” while files within folders retain their title. Folders can be thought of as the modern day counterpart to what used to be a file folder in a filing cabinet. In this metaphor, the cabinet would be the computer and the files would be documents.
