Flip phone
Flip refers to a mobile phone design that allows part of the phone to fold closed, protecting part or all of the phone when not in use. The necessary phone components are usually stored in the main base of the phone, while a flip section attached via a hinge can be closed or opened to protect the screen, keypad, or both. The flip section may also contain part of the speaker system, the keypad, or the screen of the phone itself. When a flip phone consists of two near-halves, it is referred to as a clamshell form phone. Flip phones may have secondary screens that show important information when the flip section is closed.
