Flash memory

Flash memory refers to a type of storage that is a form of non-volatile solid state storage, meaning the data can be accessed after losing power completely. Flash memory has long been seen as the successor to slower physical based methods of media access like tape drives and hard drives, as there are no moving parts to wear out and break, and theoretical read and write speeds are quicker than their magnetic counterparts. The most common form of flash memory is called NAND flash, and very few companies manufacture the tech, most notably SanDisk, Toshiba and Samsung.
