File
A computer file is any discrete, compartmentalized, stored block of arbitrary information. Files are generally saved on some kind of durable system (hard drive, removeable hard drive, optical disk, online storage, etc.), and they are typically opened and read via a device's operating system (Windows Vista, OSX, Linux, etc.). Files are also typically organized into groups and stored in folders.
