File system
A file system is the logical method by which a computer organizes computer data on a storage device. A file system is defined by an operating system, and maintains the actual structure of blocks of physical storage, by hard drive, flash memory or other means of storage. Differing file systems, like NTFS, FAT32 and HFS+, have separate advantages and disadvantages all accomplish the same goal through the same means: Organizing individual files into larger groupings called folders, and hierarchically storing data.
