e911
E911, which stands for Enhanced 911, is a cell phone-based emergency system which associates incoming emergency calls from cell phones with their physical locations. It works by routing the calls to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) and using either radiolocation or a cell phone’s built-in GPS to locate the user to within an accuracy of within 100 meters. The caller’s exact location is then displayed to the operator at the answering point to save time and assure accuracy.
