Dolby Pro Logic IIx
Dolby Pro Logic IIx is a surround sound processing technology that can take soundtracks encoded in stereo, Dolby Surround (DSS), and Dolby Digital 5.1 and convert it to 6.1 or 7.1 channel surround sound. Specifically developed to accompany DVD movies encoded in Dolby Digital EX, DLP IIx accommodates other surround sound signals as well. An expansion upon the Dolby Pro Logic II technology, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, uses signal for DLP II and up-converts them to either 6.1 or 7.1 channel surround sound. With three unique listening modes, movie, music, or game, DLP IIx allows customization of the sound signal to suit both the content and the listeners preferences. Music mode includes the additional controls to further tailor the technology to the user's needs. These include Dolby Center Width (altering the main vocal channel in the center and front speakers), Dolby Panorama (creating an effect of the music wrapping around the listener), and Dolby Dimension (creating a deeper or shallower surround soundfield).
