Carpal tunnel syndrome
The carpal tunnel is a small passageway on the inside of your wrists, and carpal tunnel syndrome results from pressure on the nerve running through that tunnel. It can be a result of repetitive flexing and extending of the fingers – typical of carpal tunnel induced by keyboard and mouse use. However, it can also be brought on or aggravated by other health conditions like diabetes, menopause, or fluid retention. Treatment for it ranges from wrist splints, to anti-inflammatory medications, to surgery in extreme cases. Additionally, some users may find relief by changing to an ergonomic keyboard or ergonomic mouse.
