Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

BlackBerry App World

Research in Motion's BlackBerry App World mobile storefront officially launched April 1, 2009 in conjunction with the CTIA 2009 wireless conference in Las Vegas. The App World is a central clearinghouse of mobile applications developed for BlackBerry devices, akin to Apple's wildly popular App Store for the iPhone and iPod touch, Google's Android Market and Palm's Software Store, as well as forthcoming storefronts from Microsoft and Nokia later in 2009.

The App World is supported for all BlackBerry devices with a track ball or SurePress touchscreen updated with the latest 4.2 software, including the latest hat trick (Storm, Bold and Curve) as well as Flips and the 8300 and 8800 series. You'll also need a PayPal account to purchase apps for now, although RIM says they're working on implementing alternative forms of payment. While some free apps will be offered, the minimum price for paid apps will be $2.99, differentiating the store from its flooded-with-$0.99-apps Apple counterpart. Developers also enjoy an 80/20 revenue split with RIM whereas iPhone developers only take down 70% from the App Store.

You can download the App World software here.
