3D TV

3D TV refers to television systems that incorporate 3D technology to make images on the screen appear to be in 3 dimensions. There are three common ways of producing this effect. One way is through lenticular viewing, a lens effect used by Philips and other HDTV manufacturers that allows a screen to display two different types of images, one intended for the left eye and one for the right, so you see an image as 3D when sitting at the proper intersection of the two signals. The second way is by viewing images through active LCD glasses that alternate polarization in time with a TV's refresh rate to give a 3D effect. The third way is the tradition method of using polarized glasses with a TV capable of switching to a 3D mode that produces lines with alternate polarization. This method also allows two viewers to see different images on the same screen, by tuning one person's glass for one set of polarized lines and the second persons for a different set.
