2.5 mm stereo jack

Audio cables and connectors come in several standard sizes, which makes it easier for manufacturers to build new devices that will work with existing cables and connectors consumers already own. The 2.5 mm jack, also commonly referred to as a sub-mini jack or sub-mini headset jack, is commonly used as the audio connector on cell phones. Also used on certain phones, and far more common as a standard size on a wide range of devices, is its larger cousin the 3.5 mm or 1/8-inch jack.
