Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

16:9

The designation 16:9 is an aspect ratio of an image or display and the most common called widescreen. 16 units wide to 9 units tall, 16:9 has become the most common video aspect ratio in HDTV and film.

While 2.39:1 is still popular as the ratio of anamorphic widescreen films (particularly epics and action films), and 4:3 is still the most common aspect ratio of standard definition TV broadcasts, 16:9 dominates most high definition content including digital TV broadcasts and video games, and has found its way into many consumer products such as video cameras and computer monitors.
