Originally released in North America on March 24, 2005, the Sony Playstation Portable System (PSP) is a multimedia entertainment, gaming, and internet device capable of surfing the Internet, playing music (MP3s, AAC, and ATRAC3plus), viewing photos (JPEG, GIF, PNG) and videos (MPEG-4), plus playing a variety of movies and games purchasable via Sony's proprietary Universal Media Disk (UMD) format or downloadable via Sony's online PlayStation store. Game saves and content can be stored on a removable Memory Stick Duo card which can be purchased in multiple gigabyte sizes. The PSP sports a 333mhz processor, 64MBs of RAM, 4MBs of DRAM, Wi-Fi connectivity via 802.11b, and a 4.3 inch, 16:9 Wide TFT LCD screen displaying a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels at a depth of 16.7 million colors. The PSP is also capable of connecting via its Remote Play feature to a PS3. With the appropriate peripherals you can both take pictures with the PSP and the PSP can be used to place Skype VOIP phone calls.
