The iPad has landed.

Officially announced on August 18th, 2009, Sony's long-rumored Sony PlayStation 3 Slim is 32% smaller and consumes 34% less energy than its big brother.

Basic specifications are close to the same as any other PS3 model, with a 120 GB hard drive installed. The PS3 Slim has two USB ports, HDMI, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, optical audio, and a proprietary port for composite or component output.

The PS3 Slim can play all the games the other models can — both physical Blu-ray disc games and titles downloaded via the PlayStation Network. One new feature: BRAVIA Sync, which will let you control the PS3's XMB (Xross Media Bar) interface with your Sony BRAVIA TV remote. Super useful, we know!

You can grab this thing from the retailer today for $299.99, $100 cheaper than the previous PS3 model. Check out the gallery for a whole slew of pictures, and don't forget to read up on the other big GamesCon announcements Sony made along with this one.
