The Wii Balance Board is a wireless input device for use with certain specialized games for Nintendo's Wii console. The Device sits flat on the floor and detects shifts in pressure as weight is applied to it. The unit is designed to support a player standing on it, similar to the Dance Dance Revolution floorpads, but the Balance Board takes the concept a few steps further. The former could only detect if a button was being pressed, the latter detects exactly how much pressure. The board is bisected down the middle into two sensor boards that can measure a player's weight and track the momentum of each foot (or hand, or whichever body part) independently.

The board was first introduced as the main control device for the game Wii Fit, and is still only available for purchase bundled with that title. Wii Fit is Nintendo's attempt to make a video game out of a virtual fitness trainer. The game includes dozens of specific mini-games that implement the board for fitness exercises like leg lifts or yoga stances, and gives feedback according to a player's balance and posture. Other mini-games use the board to steer down a ski slope, stay balanced on a tightrope, or keep a hula hoop spinning. Some games make use of the Balance Board in conjunction with the WiiMote, an option which Nintendo hopes will attract more third party developers to make use of the idea.

Despite only being available for purchase in the Wii Fit-branded bundle, the board is also the primary control input for some third-party Wii titles such as Shaun White Snowboarding. Running on four AA batteries, the Wii Balance Board can provide up to 60 hours of use before battery replacement is needed. The device has a maximum weight capacity of 330 pounds / 150 kilograms.
