The iPad has landed.

Sony's DualShock 3 is a wireless game controller for the PlayStation 3 console. The PS3 originally shipped with Sony's SIXAXIS controller, a motion-sensitive wireless device that lacked rumble support for haptic feedback. Gamers were used to force feedback from the PlayStation 2's DualShock 2 controller, leading Sony to release the DualShock 3 in April 2008, adding rumble and keeping the motion control. The addition of rumble motors raised battery consumption from 30 milliamps to 300 milliamps.

The DualShock 3 sports the same layout as the DualShock 2, the standard PlayStation arrangement of two thumb sticks, a digital pad, four face buttons, and four shoulder buttons. As a wireless controller, the DS3 adds indicators for which player slot the controller is functioning as. It's now officially replaced the SIXAXIS as the default input method for the PlayStation 3.

On June 26th, 2009, Sony began shipping a silver DualShock 3 controller in addition to the black model. Previously silver peripherals were only available in Japan.
