Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Traveling with gadgets can be a hassle, but thanks in part to recently released rules by the Transportation Safety Administration, travelers can now get through airport checkpoints without having to waste time unpacking and repacking laptops.

The main crux of the new rules are visibility. According to the TSA, their X-ray equipment shows the inside of a computer pretty effectively, and TSA officers are checking electronics to make sure the devices haven't been tampered with. If a computer passes through an x-ray machine with an unobstructed view, free of extra pockets or pieces of metal, the TSA says travelers won't have to unpack the laptop and have it be scanned separately.

Keeping one of these three styles will ensure your trip through TSA checkpoints is clear. If your laptop is in a different style bag, like the two listed below, the TSA says you'll still have to remove it to get through the checkpoint.

The TSA won't officially certify bags, nor does it promise to let every laptop through that is in an approved style, but it does say that an unobstructed view of a laptop will allow for the fastest through time.
