Downloading a demo version of a DS game straight from your Wii might sound like it would be a complicated process, but Nintendo has actually made it suprisingly simple. The things you'll need to complete this are: A Nintendo Wii, a Nintendo DS, and about five or ten minutes of free time. Read on for the step-by-step!

Firstly, from the Wii's home menu, you'll want to head over to the Wii Shop Channel and locate and download the Nintendo Channel, which comes free of charge. Once this is downloaded, hit the Home key on your Wii Remote and head back to the Wii Menu where you should now see the Nintendo Channel available. [Looking for a complete guide of the Nintendo Wii's available channels? We've got you covered.]

Click on the Nintendo Channel. Once the channel has loaded up you'll see a bar at the top of the screen that says "Find Titles for You", which you should click.

A menu will now pop up. At the very bottom of this menu is an option called "DS Download Service". Once clicked, the DS Download Service menu will appear with a list of games available for trial.

Now you'll want to grab your DS and turn it on. From the main start screen, click "DS Download Play".

Now take your Wii Remote and click the game you wish you demo on the menu. After a quick bit of preparation on the part of the Wii, your DS and Wii will see each other via the miracle of Wi-Fi and soon your DS will display the start screen of the demo you've chosen. You're now free to play the demo as long as you like, but since the information you've downloaded is stored on the handheld's temporary memory, it will be erased once you turn the system off.

The entire process shouldn't take any more than five minutes depending on your internet connection speed, which is used to download the demo onto the Wii. This nifty service should help you make great buying decisions in the future. Game on!

Thanks for putting this information up for people to find. I looked all over to find out how to make this work, and come to find out all I needed to do was click on 'Find Titles For You' to find the right channel. Nintendo's so-called support site should have this information but I couldn't find it there.

FYI, my DS can't connect to my home Wi-Fi network because the network uses WPA encryption and I refuse to downgrade to WEP so the DS can use it. However, the DS can still download the game demos from the Wii, so I have to assume it doesn't use a Wi-Fi network but instead uses the same connection the Wii controllers use.
