Google Nexus One and HTC Supersonic 4G smartphone heading to Sprint

When you want to watch a Blu-ray movie on your HDTV, you have to take a number of specs. You have to turn the TV on, then the Blu-ray player. Then you have to insert the Blu-ray disc into the player. Then you have to switch inputs on the TV, and you might even still have to press play. Seriously, you dropped thousands of bucks on this setup, is that really the most convenient it can be?

Sharp is apparently equally enraged at that one minute process, and is looking to get it down to just a couple of seconds with its new Aquos HDTVs with built-in Blu-ray drives. We've got your first look from the show room floor at last week's Consumer Electronics Show right here!

While it's fancy enough just to have a Blu-ray drive in your TV, the hidden benefit is that the process of playing a movie becomes really simple. We just popped in a Blu-ray disc of Hellboy 2 and it started playing on the TV instantly (though you can turn this feature off if you prefer). Very convenient, and we were told it would work with DVDs and CDs as well.

The Blu-ray playback looked just fine; there was nothing spectacularly good or bad about it. The interface was straightforward, about exactly what you'd expect. The TVs themselves were of good quality; again, nothing really phenomenal, but that's not the point. They seemed comparable to the other Sharp HDTVs in the booth.

The TVs could also be swiveled on their stands to ensure optimal viewing angle no matter where you are in the room — a simple, cheap feature we wish more sets had. Apart from the Blu-ray integration and the swivel stands, these were pretty much your standard Sharp Aquos HDTVs.

Aquos is a terrific line, and that didn't change here. So hold tight for pricing information; hopefully these will be affordable. The two biggest models (55 and 46-inch) will hit store shelves in February, while the rest (42, 37, and 32-inch) are due by the end of this month.
