As if there aren't enough netbooks and netbook-like computers out there, MSI is launching two more and exhibited both at the Consumer Electronics Show. How could these machines possibly differ substantively from past and competing choices, you ask? We took both laptops for a test run, and we have the answer to that question!

The U115 actually is a little bit innovative. It has two hard drives: one solid state drive, and one traditional hard disk drive. The latter is more price efficient (more gigabytes for less money), while the former is more energy efficient. The dual-hard-drive configuration in the U115 lets you switch off the older, battery-juice-drinking drive when you want to save energy and turn it back on again when you need to access all those extra files.

The U120 (pictured directly above) has another power-saving technology: LED backlighting in the display, which we're seeing in a lot of at CES this week. The technical specifications are similar for both laptops: 1.6 GHz Intel Atom CPU, 10-inch 1,024 x 600 pixel screens, and up to 2 GB of RAM. Par for the course for netbooks, really.
