CES is the International Consumer Electronics Show, an annual trade show sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), where many attending companies and exhibitors debut new products and show off new technologies.

CES was originally held in 1967 in New York City, occurred twice a year from 1978 to 1994, and in recent years has settled to a once a year event occurring in January at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Notable past technological announcements at previous CES events include: the VCR, the camcorder, the compact disc, the DVD, HDTV, and the DVR.

Over 2,700 companies are expected to exhibit at this year's CES and while news of several products that will be showcased at the event have already begun trickling out, there will undoubtedly be new and unexpected gadgets of interest unveiled at the event.
