The NEC LCD2490W2-BK-SV may not have the most palpable name, but since this 24-inch LCD computer display is intended for professionals (video and photo editors, primarily), NEC can probably get away with it. The model features IPS panel technology that increases sRGB color space coverage by 96.7% over alternatives, hence the professional labeling.
The display has a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 and a static contrast ratio of 1000:1. Sure, you see displays with numbers like 20,000:1 out there but those ratios are generally dynamic, which is less ideal for professionals. The brightness is rated 320 cd/m², and yep, it swivels, just in case you were wondering.
As of June 2009 this monitor is available for $1,299. NEC also produces an almost identical model, the slightly less obtusely-named LCD2490WUXi², which sells for $200 less which lacks this model's SpectraView color calibration feature, which noticeably boosts image quality.
