BenQ's M2400HD is a 24-inch 1080p LCD monitor in true 16:9 aspect ratio, a new trend for computer displays. The more-prevalent WUXGA 1920 x 1200 resolution offers a higher resolution than the M2400HD's 1920 x 1080, but forces letterboxing when displaying high definition video content, which BenQ avoids. The screen supports HDMI, DVI, and VGA inputs, and features a three-port USB hub for connecting desktop devices. Though the monitor has a two-megapixel webcam, it sits peeking out over top of the frame, rather than be unobtrusively integrated into the frame itself.
The M2400HD claims a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, boosted by a dynamic backlight to 10,000:1. The screen's image processor supposedly further adjusts brightness and contrast along with performing edge enhancement to improve image quality. The display has a refresh rate of five milliseconds, using increased voltages to speed pixel state transitions with the aim of reducing image ghosting.
