Released July 2008, the Inspiron 518 belongs to Dell's line of value focused desktop PCs, with a standard starting price of $399 and a high level of customization for those who want to add more expensive entertainment or storage capabilities. The 518 has a 2.4 GHz  Intel 1 Core processor, 2GB of installed RAM, and a standard 320GB hard drive for information storage. This is similar to a prior Dell system, the Inspiron 530, which has a slightly lower price but also comes with a slower processor and a shared-memory Nvidia graphics card instead of the 518's 256MB ATI Radeon card. In addition to its Gigabit Ethernet connection, the 518 also comes with USB and Firewire ports, Windows Vista Home Premium for an operating system, and 7.1 channel surround capabilities.
