The ASUS Eee Keyboard, unveiled at CES 2009, is a home theater PC shaped like — and entirely contained within — a keyboard.

The two big technical innovations: It sports a 5-inch touchscreen and wireless HDMI for streaming video to nearby displays. Under the proverbial hood is a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, one gigabyte of memory, and a 32 or 64 GB solid-state storage drive. And like any self-respecting PC, it does both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. You'll find the following ports on the back of this gadget: two USB, one VGA, and one HDMI, plus headphone and microphone jacks.

On August 20th, 2009, Digitimes cited reliable sources in Taiwan who said that the Eee Keyboard will launch in October for between $500 and $600. These particular sources have proven right about other ASUS rumors in the past, so they're worth considering.

On September 14th, 2009, Asus officially confirmed that the device will go on sale in North America and Europe in October.

Head on over to the Product Details tab for a video of both the wired and wireless versions in action at CeBIT 2009.
