Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Asus's Eee Box EB1006 is the higher-end model of two nettop computers announced via Energy Star. Although not much is known about the PC, it has a discrete video card with 128 MB of memory set aside and runs on a 1.66 GHz Atom processor. There is no information available for hard drive space so far. You can switch on sleep mode to save power while keeping the computer on, lowering energy requirements to about 1.5-watts, as opposed to the 1-watt needed for full standby. The brother model to the EB1006, the EB1002, has an integrated video card and an official hard drive capacity at 250 GB, but prices and availability are not known for either system.
