Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

Intended for use as a media center, the Asus Eee Box 206 nettop computer includes an HDMI output, 1 GB DDR2 RAM, 160 GB SATA hard drive, and an ATI Radeon HD 3400 graphics card with 256 MB of video memory, ensuring smooth high definition playback. The brains of the unit are an Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz processor, and in addition to Bluetooth support the Eee Box 206 supports 802.11n Wi-Fi for faster media transfer speeds across your home network.

The front-end software is the Eee Cinema media center, a user interface running atop Windows XP Home. Available in black and white, the 206 starts at $438 which includes a remote control and DVI-D adapter — making the Eee Box 206 a relatively inexpensive contender in the small form factor home theater PC market.
