Originally released on January 22, 2005, the Mac mini is Apple's smallest and least expensive desktop computer. Marketed by Apple as a BYODKM computer (Bring Your Own Display, Keyboard, and Mouse), the Mac mini measures six-and-a-half inches squared by two inches tall and is available in two different models: The $599 base model features a 1.83GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB memory, a combination DVD player and CD-RW drive, and an 80GB hard drive; The $799 model features a faster 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB of memory, a DVD±RW / CD-RW drive, and a larger 120GB hard drive. Both models come with built in WiFi (802.11g) and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity and can support an external monitor with up to a 1900x1200 pixel resolution via an included VGA adapter. Because of its small size, the ability to connect the Mac mini to a TV via an optional S-Video adapter, included remote control, and Apple's popular Front Row media-management application, the Apple Mac mini has become a popular home theater computer amongst Mac enthusiasts.
