News of this successor to the first Google Android-powered smartphone, the T-Mobile G1, first emerged from a leaked 2009 T-Mobile Android roadmap. The T-Mobile G1 v2, apparently being developered by Samsung and also codenamed "Bigfoot," looks to have a much sleeker QWERTY slider design with chrome accents and rounded corners — perhaps taking cues from one of its most prominent competitors, the Apple iPhone, whose next-generation update is expected to be announced in summer 2009.

The Samsung Bigfoot will reportedly pack a 3 megapixel camera, UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, 3-inch capacitive AMOLED touchscreen, GPS and Wi-Fi. One might cautiously expect its availability at Wal-Mart in October for $148 with a 2-year agreement from T-Mobile.
