Google Chrome OS unveiled, released to open source community

The Droid (formerly called the Sholes) has been marketed as Motorola's iPhone killer. Its public introduction was a commercial that pointed out that the iPhone doesn't have a real keyboard, take 5-megapixel photos in the dark, run simultaneous apps, allow for interchangeable batteries, or allow open development of apps. "Droid does," said the ad. Take a look at the product details tab to see the ad for yourself.

Exact specs leaked out a few weeks later: a 16:9, 480 x 854 touchscreen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 5-megapixel camera with a flash, 16 GB of storage on an included microSD card, Wi-Fi, micro USB, and Bluetooth. Motorola also claims that the Droid gets 270 hours of standby time and 385 minutes of "usage time." And of course, it runs Google Android.

The Motorola Droid launched to the public on November 6th, 2009. It costs $199 with a two-year contract after a $100 rebate.
