Research in Motion opted to outsource the development of a BlackBerry watchphone to a smaller company called Allerta. The result of Allerta's work is the inPulse.
The inPulse is not a phone itself; it's an accessory that connects to your current BlackBerry handset via Bluetooth wireless. It notifies you of calls, text messages, e-mails, Twitter updates, and more so you don't have to pull your phone out of your pocket. You can also answer your calls, or view some of those messages on the watch's 1.3-inch OLED screen. However, the inPulse is display-only, so you can't reply to messages with it.
Battery life is promised around four days on average. The watch will ship in February 2010, and it will cost $149.
